
Living in the Treasure Valley, we have incredible access to beautiful mountains and scenic areas right at our doorstep. As Memorial Day weekend officially kicks off camping season, and we've got five fantastic places to camp this season. Situated a mere hour's drive from Boise, this state park rests on the outskirts of Mountain Home, ID. Here, you'll find the towering "tallest single-structured sand dune in North America!" The camping area offers two rentable cabins alongside numerous camping spots. Family-friendly activities abound, from stargazing at the observatory to dune skiing, fishing, birdwatching, hiking, and lake swimming. While climbing the sand dunes is a favored pastime, please note that vehicles are not permitted on the dunes.
Just a scenic two-hour drive, approximately 20 miles from Idaho City, Black Rock Campground is the final gem on our camping list! Nestled along the tranquil banks of the North Fork Boise River, this campground offers fishing, swimming, wildlife watching, hiking, and horseback riding trails. It features several single-family campsites, restrooms, trash collection, grills, and potable water. Please note that large groups, including family reunions, club outings, and events, are not permitted. To ensure fairness, only two sites can be reserved per family, so we recommend keeping it limited to immediate family members.
Situated roughly two hours from Boise, and nestled 25 miles north of Garden Valley, ID, in Peace Valley, this campground is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. It's renowned for its scenic hiking trails, thrilling mountain biking routes, and exhilarating ATV rides. Additionally, visitors can unwind in the hot springs pool and try their luck fishing in the nearby creek, easily accessible from the campground. Amenities include grills, potable water, a playground, ample parking, picnic shelters, restrooms, campfire rings, and even a convenient store in case any supplies are forgotten!
Explore the history of the Oregon Trail pioneers who crossed the Snake River. Located off the Glenns Ferry exit (about 80 minutes from Boise), the park campgrounds have water and electrical service for RV's, tent sites, eight cabins, picnic areas disc golf and an education center. The campground has grassy areas, showers, flushing toilets, and much more.
Located between Lowman and Garden Valley and one hour and 45 minutes from Boise, this campground has 26 sites that accommodate tents and nonelectric RV camping. Potable water and vault toilets are available. Located near Pine Flats Hot Springs, you'll enjoy soaking in beautiful hot pools along the banks for the Payette River.
