Summer in the Treasure Valley is packed with events that celebrate everything from local traditions and live theater to county fairs, cycling, and hot air balloons. Whether you're looking for a family outing, a date night, or a scenic weekend road trip, these are some of our favorite events happening throughout July and August.

Bailey Glasser Boise Twilight Criterium

July 11, 2026

One of Boise's signature summer events returns for its 39th year, bringing elite cyclists from across the country to race through the streets of downtown Boise. Beyond the professional racing, you'll find a fan expo, food trucks, local vendors, kids' activities, and an energetic atmosphere that turns downtown into one giant celebration.

Idaho Shakespeare Festival – 50th Season

June through September 2026

Celebrate the Idaho Shakespeare Festival's milestone 50th season with an unforgettable evening under the stars. Bring a picnic, grab a glass of wine, and enjoy world-class performances in the beautiful outdoor amphitheater along the Boise River. It's one of the Treasure Valley's most beloved summer traditions.

San Inazio Basque Festival

July 31 – August 2, 2026

Experience Boise's rich Basque heritage during this lively annual celebration on the historic Basque Block. The festival features traditional dancing, live music, authentic Basque cuisine, sporting events, and cultural demonstrations that make it one of the city's most unique summer festivals.

Canyon County Fair

July 23–26, 2026

Nothing says summer quite like the county fair. From carnival rides and livestock shows to concerts, exhibits, and every fair food imaginable, the Canyon County Fair offers four days of family-friendly fun in Caldwell.

Idaho Island Festival

July 25, 2026

Celebrate the vibrant cultures of the Pacific Islands through music, dance, food, artisan vendors, and cultural performances. This colorful event offers a unique experience that brings island traditions to the Treasure Valley.

Sawtooth Festival

July 18–19, 2026

Looking for a mountain getaway? Head to Stanley for the Sawtooth Festival, where you'll find regional artists, handcrafted goods, live music, delicious food, and incredible views of the Sawtooth Mountains. It's the perfect excuse for a weekend road trip.

Kuna Days

August 7–8, 2026

This hometown favorite celebrates the spirit of Kuna with a community parade, local vendors, live entertainment, family activities, and an evening fireworks show. It's a fun reminder that some of the best summer events happen in our own backyard.

Huckleberry Days

August 14–16, 2026

Take a scenic drive to Donnelly and celebrate one of Idaho's favorite summer flavors. Huckleberry Days features local vendors, handcrafted goods, live entertainment, delicious huckleberry treats, and plenty of small-town charm.

Western Idaho Fair

August 21–30, 2026

Round out the summer with one of Idaho's largest annual events. From thrilling carnival rides and concerts to agricultural exhibits, livestock competitions, and classic fair food, the Western Idaho Fair offers something for every age.

Summer Fun at Bogus Basin

Throughout July & August 2026

Escape the summer heat with a trip to Bogus Basin, where you'll find a full calendar of mountain adventures and community events just 16 miles from downtown Boise. Throughout July and August, enjoy Yoga on the Mountain every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Music on the Mountain featuring free outdoor concerts on select Saturdays, scenic chairlift rides, the Glade Runner Mountain Coaster, hiking and biking trails, and family-friendly activities. Whether you're looking for a relaxing afternoon or an active day outdoors, Bogus Basin is one of the Treasure Valley's favorite summer destinations.

Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic

Sept 2-6, 2026

Not technically in July or August but this free community event has become one of Boise's most iconic summer traditions and is a must-see for visitors and locals alike. Set your alarm early and head to Ann Morrison Park to watch dozens of colorful hot air balloons lift into the morning sky.
