After a long winter, spring in the Treasure Valley brings something everyone looks forward to—longer days, fresh air, and the chance to enjoy the community again. It's the perfect time to step outside, try something new, and make the most of the season before summer arrives.

If you're looking for a little inspiration, here are a few ideas to add to your spring bucket list this year.

Take a Relaxing Day Trip to Idaho City

Spring is a great time to explore the mountains before summer crowds arrive. One of the most relaxing day trips from Boise is a visit to The Springs in Idaho City.

Nestled in the pines, The Springs offers beautiful outdoor soaking pools fed by natural geothermal water. It's the perfect place to unwind, especially on a cool spring day.

Many visitors pair their soak with a walk around historic Idaho City or lunch in town before heading back to the valley or a night at The Pines, located next to The Springs. Just reserve your spot early!

Enjoy Brunch at a Local Favorite

Spring weekends are perfect for brunch, and Boise has plenty of great options.

First Watch is a popular spot for a bright, fresh breakfast and has two Meridian locations. Local favorites include the Farmhouse Hash, the Belgian waffle, and their smooth house coffee.

Another Boise staple is BACON, known for its creative menu and, of course, everything bacon. It's a fun place to gather with friends and start a relaxed weekend morning.

Visit the Boise Farmers Market

One of the best signs that spring has truly arrived is the return of the Boise Farmers Market, opening April 4th.

Held near Shoreline Drive, the market features incredible local vendors offering everything from fresh produce to artisan foods.

Two favorites locals often seek out:

  • The Hummus Guy, known for his flavorful homemade hummus

  • Zeppole Baking Company, famous for their delicious breads and pastries

It's the perfect place to spend a Saturday morning while supporting local farmers and makers.

Refresh Your Patio for the Season

Even though spring weather can still be cool, it's a great time to start refreshing your outdoor space.

Simple updates can make a big difference:

  • Add new outdoor cushions or pillows

  • Bring out lanterns or string lights

  • Add a planter with spring flowers

  • Create a small coffee or reading corner

These small touches can make your patio feel ready for the warmer months ahead.

Plant a Small Herb Garden

Spring is the perfect time to start a small herb garden—and you don't need much space to do it.

Try planting one large pot with a mix of herbs like:

  • Basil

  • Parsley

  • Chives

  • Mint

  • Dill

Place it on your patio or near a sunny kitchen window and you'll have fresh herbs ready for cooking all season long.

Hike the Table Rock Trail

As the foothills turn green again, it's the perfect time to explore Boise's trail system.

The Table Rock Trail, part of the Ridge to Rivers network, is one of the most iconic hikes in the area. The moderate climb rewards hikers with sweeping views of Boise and the entire Treasure Valley.

Spring is an especially beautiful time to go before the summer heat arrives.

Attend a Local Spring Event

Spring also brings some of Boise's most exciting events.

Two favorites include:

Treefort Music Festival – One of Boise's most vibrant events, Treefort fills downtown with music, art, food, and energy each spring held March 25-29th at locations throughout downtown Boise.

The Boise Flower & Garden Show – Held March 27–29 at Expo Idaho, this event is perfect for anyone looking for gardening inspiration, landscaping ideas, and outdoor living tips.

A Season for Fresh Starts

Spring always feels like a fresh chapter in the Treasure Valley. Whether it's soaking in Idaho City, hiking the foothills, visiting the farmers market, or enjoying brunch with friends, this season offers so many ways to reconnect with the community.

Sometimes the best way to welcome spring is simply to get out and enjoy everything our area has to offer.
